It took me a while to get used to the well thought Mac OS X system. Linux was my OS choice for the desktop system, and using bootcamp seemed really easy to have it on my new machine, but then some other geek told me about Fink.
This project is a great idea, the stability, simplicity and looks of Mac OS X, plus all the free (as in libre) software I used to play and work with.
It took me very little to install it, using Apple's X11 environment, and a big help from Fink Commander.
But then came some things that didn't quite have sense. Many shell windows started to open, it seemed a really simple GUI with a terrible green color. Used to the amount of documentation, and the access to it that other FS projects had, I was a little lost.
Trusting that I had just the basics, using Fink Commander, Gnome and other applications such as Gimp were ready to run. Following the instructions provided by the Fink site, the pretty foot environment was up and running, but with those same weird green bars that I always have to pinpoint on my desktop.

And now it's impossible to run any application. Hopefully someone from the Fink Forum at Nabble will help. The post is here.
I sooo much would like my environment to look like those on the XDarwin screenshots:
Thanks.
